In celebration of National Oral Health Month, the Municipal Government of Alfonso, in collaboration with the Office of the Provincial Health Officer (OPHO) and Colgate-Palmolive Philippines, successfully conducted the 2nd Topical Fluoride Application and Distribution of Oral Health Kits for daycare children on February 26, 2025, at Alfonso Town Plaza Covered Court.
Themed “Pamilya, Una Kong Dentista,” the event emphasized the role of families in fostering good oral hygiene among young children.
Municipal Social Welfare Officer Gina T. Vedan warmly welcomed the OPHO Healthcare professionals and the 313 children who benefitted from the event. Municipal Health Officer Dr. Ma. Cecilia Sargento highlighted in her speech the importance of early oral care in preventing dental issues later in life.
Likewise, Dr. Melnita Bayot, President of the Philippine Dental Association – Cavite Chapter, then delivered a message emphasizing the crucial role of parents in maintaining their children’s oral health, highlighting that good dental care begins at home.
Dr. Mary Ann Montenegro, Cavite Provincial Oral Health Manager, emphasized in her message that the event’s goal of delivering essential oral health services, promoting good oral hygiene practices, and raising awareness about the significance of preventive dental care. “Dapat po sa tahanan at sa pamilya unang nag-uumpisa ang tamang pag-aalaga ng ngipin at ng buong katawan” she said.
After the program, the children received free fluoride application and dental kits to help them strengthen their teeth. (R. Tanael)
