IMUS CITY, CAVITE — Two of the 21 Deputy Majority Floor Leaders appointed by Majority Leader Sandro Marcos of Ilocos Norte to the 20th Philippine Congress are from the province of Cavite.
They are Cavite 3rd District Rep. Adrian Jay Advincula and 7th District Rep. Crispin Diego Remulla.
Three other lawmakers from the province secured committee chairmanship in the House of Representatives.
They are Cavite 1st District Rep. Jolo Revilla for Labor and Employment; 6th District Rep. Antonio Ferrer for Games and Amusement; and 8th District Rep. Aniela Tolentino for Climate Change.
Advincula, Remulla, Revilla, Ferrer and Tolentino are serving their second terms in Congress
Advincula was also appointed Assistant Majority Leader of the Committee on Rules and vice chairman on Committee on Local Government.
He also has principal authored 115 bills and co-authored 59 bills. Sixteen of those bills have been ratified.
Advincula is known for providing P111,667,00 in funds to 29,618 beneficiaries for financial and educational assistance.
He also allocated P6,255,638,000 worth of infrastructures such as roads, bridges and school buildings in Imus City. He was also awarded as the top performing representative of Cavite with 89 percent approval rating.
Meanwhile, first time congressman Kiko Barzaga of the 4th District of Cavite was also elected as Assistant Majority Leader.
Among the bills he has authored are those seeking to transfer the supervision of the Ospital ng Imus from the local government to the Department of Health, to integrate a comprehensive study of Philippine history during World War II into higher education curriculum, and to mandate toll operators of all major expressways to use a unified RFID collection system.
He also co-authored the bill that created the Maharlika Investment Fund.
In 2024, he voted against the absolute divorce bill and opened an extension office in Imus in the same year.
In the present set-up of the House, the Majority Leader is concurrently the chairman of the Committee on Rules. As such, all matters relevant to the Rules of the House, specifically the calendar of bills, preparation of Order of Business and Calendar of Business are within his responsibilities.
