The Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) assessed the Technology Demonstration project on Rice Production Using Wood Vinegar (Mokusaku) in Barangay Palangue, Naic, Cavite on October 3, 2024.
As part of the assessment, the OPA team closely monitored the progress of the rice crops throughout the growing season. This included regular evaluations of plant health, growth rates, and overall yields. Farmers were also engaged in feedback sessions to discuss their experiences with wood vinegar application and the Palay Check System, allowing for adjustments based on real-time observations.
The monitoring process highlighted the effectiveness of wood vinegar in enhancing plant growth and mitigating pest issues, while also considering farmers’ cultural management practices. Initial results indicate promising improvements in yield and income, demonstrating the potential of this sustainable approach.
OPA’s ongoing efforts aim to refine these methods and encourage broader adoption of wood vinegar in rice farming across Cavite, marking a significant step toward improving agricultural productivity while protecting the environment. (R. Tanael)
