DepEd, Nestlé PH boost nutrition education for learners

The Department of Education (DepEd) has partnered with Nestlé Philippines to further boost its nutrition education program in public schools in select regions in the country.

“Together, we aim to nurture champions, champions in sports, champions in academics, and champions in life,” Education Secretary Sonny Angara said in a statement Thursday, following the DepEd’s Nestlé Wellness Campus Program in Taguig City last Jan. 28.

Angara said the DepEd-Nestle partnership is more than just a contract as it also serves as a promise to the younger generation.

The program aims to educate learners and their families to opt for healthier lifestyles and food diets.

Under the program, nutrition modules and physical activities will be provided to Grades 1 to 10 learners.

It will also include other activities like Wellness Songs and Dance.

The program will be implemented in Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Bicol, Eastern, Central, and Western Visayas, as well as in Northern Mindanao and Davao. (PNA)
