Cavite Monthly Arbor Day: Tree Planting Activity at Taal Volcano Protected Landscape

The Office of the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer (PENRO), headed by Ms. Anabelle L. Cayabyab, led the Cavite Monthly Arbor Day tree planting activity along the Taal Volcano Protected Landscape (TVPL) at Barangay Bagong Tubig, Tagaytay City on August 30, 2024. The initiative is part of the province’s ongoing efforts to preserve and protect the natural environment of Tagaytay and the TVPL.

The program kicked off with welcome remarks from Kagawad Kimberly Sangalang of Barangay Bagong Tubig, who expressed the community’s enthusiasm for environmental conservation efforts. It was followed by a message from Provincial Administrator for Community Affairs, Alvin S. Mojica, who emphasized the crucial role of maintaining trees in protected areas to sustain Tagaytay’s natural beauty and ecological balance.

Forester Joseph M. Pusancho, PASu-TVPL, Province of Batangas, highlighted the importance of not just planting trees but ensuring their proper care and growth. He urged participants to commit to the long-term maintenance of the saplings.

Dr. Joselito Laguardia, Tagaytay City Agriculturist, expressed his gratitude to the volunteers and participants for their active support in making the event successful, underscoring how vital community involvement is for the project’s success.

Dir. Pelita Galvez from DPWH’s PPP Service on the CALAX Project also graced the event, extending her support for the initiative and reiterating their commitment to environmental stewardship. PLTCOL. Joven T. Bahil, Officer-in-Charge of the Tagaytay City Police Station, assured participants that the PNP will always be involved in projects aimed at protecting nature and keeping the TVPL clean and secure.

Volunteers from different barangays across Tagaytay City joined the activity, demonstrating strong community support for the preservation of the Taal Volcano Protected Landscape. The activity was a resounding success, reinforcing the collective effort to conserve Cavite’s natural environment for future generations. (A. Sarte)
