The Office of the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer (OPENRO) Cavite, in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd) Cavite, spearheaded a tree-planting program aimed at strengthening environmental stewardship among students and educators. Held at Francisco Osorio Integrated National High School on November 21, the event gathered school officials, government representatives, and community volunteers for a day of ecological action.
Speakers from both the provincial government and DepEd Cavite led by Principal April L. Macam, OPENRO Department Head Anabelle L. Cayabyab, and Project Development Officer Lito M. Camo Jr. of DepEd Cavite emphasized the urgency of youth participation in climate resilience. The program featured an orientation on proper tree-planting techniques, a commitment-signing ceremony, and a community song to cap the event.
The initiative forms part of the province’s broader campaign to restore green spaces and promote sustainable practices in schools across Cavite. (A. Sarte)
