Imus host National Flag Day rites, opens 128th Independence Day celebration

Government officials, educators, students, and members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines gathered at the Dambana ng Pambansang Watawat in Alapan, Imus City on May 28 to commemorate the National Flag Days and formally launch the nationwide observance of the 128th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence.

Carrying the theme, “Kalayaan. Kinabukasan. Kasaysayan” the ceremony highlighted the enduring significance of the Philippine flag as a symbol of unity, patriotism, and national identity.

Leading the event were Cavite Governor Francisco Gabriel D. Remulla, Imus City Mayor Alex L. Advincula, Senator Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito, Congressman Adrian Jay C. Advincula, DILG Secretary Juanito Victor C. Remulla, and National Historical Commission of the Philippines Chair Regalado Trota Jose Jr., among other dignitaries.

The ceremony also featured cultural performances, messages from national and local leaders, and a wreath-laying activity, underscoring the province’s historic role in the country’s struggle for freedom. — OPIO
