The Cavite Provincial Rabies Coordinating Council successfully conducted its 2nd regular meeting at the Cavite Government Center in Trece Martires City, gathering stakeholders from various government agencies and academic institution to discuss updates, accomplishments, and upcoming activities aimed at eliminating rabies in the province.
Ms. Gladys Credo, Veterinarian II of the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian (OPV), presented the updates and accomplishments on the animal side, including vaccinations, spaying and castrations, and the number of rabies cases in the province.
Meanwhile, Ms. Charlene Rosanes, Nurse I from the Office of the Provincial Health Officer, provided an update on the human rabies situation, including the number of cases and deaths reported in Cavite.
An open forum followed to address additional concerns and gather suggestions and support for the council’s future initiatives.
The meeting was led by Dr. May Magno, Provincial Veterinarian, together with the OPV team composed of Mr. Mark Jacob Espineli, Ms. Alma Fe Obidos, Ms. Sonia Penus, Dr. Gladys Credo, Ms. Marjo Mojica, and Ms. Sarah Laranjo.
Representatives from partner agencies and PGC offices were also in attendance, including: Mr. Emmanuel Mago and Mr. Rezin Bahia of Cavite State University – College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences; Ms. Maria May Ambata of the Department of Interior and Local Government-Cavite; Mr. Conrad De Los Santos III of the Provincial Department of Health Office; Dr. Gloria Digma of the City Veterinary Office-General Trias; Ms. Lea Colada of the Office of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer; and Ms. Jam Elisse Reyes of the Office of the Provincial Information Officer.
