Cavite Joins CALABARZON in Celebrating Regional Women’s Month

The Province of Cavite participated in the Regional Women’s Month Celebration held on March 20, 2025, at the Ynares Event Center, Antipolo City. This year’s theme, “WE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society,” with the sub-theme “Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas,” underscored the collective commitment to advancing gender equality and women’s empowerment.

The event gathered hundreds of Gender and Development Focal Point System (GFPS) representatives from various local government units across CALABARZON, united in their advocacy for gender inclusivity.

Regional Gender and Development Committee (RGADC) Chairperson RD Carmel P. Matabang warmly welcomed the participants, emphasizing the need for a society where women can thrive. Hon. Nina Ricci A. Ynares, Governor of Rizal Province, highlighted the struggles and triumphs of women, while Dr. Nancy T. Pascual, President of the University of Rizal System, inspired attendees by affirming that every woman holds the power to shape a better future.

A keynote address by Dr. Amaryllis T. Torres, Professor Emeritus of UP-CSWCD, reinforced the call for sustained gender advocacy. The program also featured insightful discussions on gender equality and women’s empowerment, including: “Advancing Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment” by Ms. Nharleen Santos-Millar, OIC Executive Director of the Philippine Commission on Women; and, “Empowering Women through Social Security and Solidarity Economy in Achieving ASEAN Sustainable Development Goals” by Dr. Benjamin R. Quiñones, Chairperson of the Asian Solidarity Economy Council.

A major highlight of the event was the launch of the CALABARZON Gender and Development Agenda 2024-2030, reinforcing the region’s dedication to gender-responsive policies and programs.

During the turnover ceremony, the Province of Cavite officially accepted the hosting duties for the 2026 Regional Women’s Month Celebration. Representing Cavite were Board Member Romel R. Enriquez, Chairperson of the Committee on Social Services, Family, Women, Children, and Elderly, and Ms. Precyl T. Ramos, OIC of the Office of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer.

The celebration concluded with “Serbisyo Para Kay Juana,” featuring market fairs, welfare services, and commercial booths aimed at supporting women’s economic empowerment

With great enthusiasm, Cavite looks forward to leading the 2026 Regional Women’s Month Celebration, further strengthening its commitment to advancing gender equality in the region. (A. Cabrera)
